Solo & Ensemble

West Tennessee Vocal Music Educators Association

Vocal Solo & Ensemble Festival

(February 29, 2024)

Vocal Solo & Ensemble is an annual event held in the Memphis area for WTVMEA member schools which gives vocal students (and piano students) the opportunity to perform a solo or ensemble piece for a judge for feedback and a rating. This event is not an audition, a public performance, or a competition between performers. Students are judged based on the rating system of the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME) with the highest rating being Superior (1), then Excellent (2), Good (3), Fair (4) and Poor (5). Adjudication takes place in a classroom with one judge per performer or ensemble. Only the performers and judges are allowed in the room during adjudication.   Superior and Excellent medals will be presented at the end of the school year at our Spring Choir Concert on April 29th.
