Cora Frances Rowe Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society

National Junior Honor Society membership is attained by invitation only and is offered only to 7th and 8th grade students.  Students are nominated by their teams of teachers, and basic qualifications are an overall average of 90 in the 4 core subjects (ELA, math, science, and social studies), exemplary character, and conduct.  The purpose of the creation of National Junior Honor Society in 1929 was to "create an organization that would recognize and encourage academic achievement while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy."  Thus, our members characterize the ideals of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character.  We recognize excellence in academics while striving to build character, leadership, and citizenship through service to others.
